An honest look at AgentMail
AgentMail calls itself “the email inbox API for AI agents” and “the first email provider built for AI agents”. Every agent gets its own inbox to send, receive and act on email.
Inboxes are created through a REST API, with threading, webhooks and WebSockets, custom domains with DKIM, SPF and DMARC, IMAP and SMTP access, and multi-tenant Pods. It has Python and TypeScript SDKs and an MCP server, and a documented REST API.
The Free plan is $0 a month with no credit card: 3 inboxes, 3,000 emails a month and 100 a day, and mail carries a “Sent via AgentMail” footer. Developer is $20 a month (10 inboxes, 10,000 emails a month, 10 custom domains). Startup is $200 a month (150 inboxes and a SOC 2 report). Enterprise is custom, with EU cloud, bring-your-own cloud, SSO and an SLA. SDKs and the MCP server come with every plan.
When AgentMail is the better choice
Choose AgentMail when you need real email: your agent talks to people or services over email, signs up for services or receives confirmations. It is also the better choice when you want official SDKs or custom domains, published pricing or a SOC 2 report.
